Il se promène, appareil photo en main, prêt à saisir un geste, une attitude, une lumière, voire une couleur. Ses yeux explorent, son cœur ressent et rapidement, son imaginaire guide ses mains pour lui permettre de modeler son inspiration. Presque par insouciance, il se laisse guider par le médium, réelle vedette de son besoin de partager. Il explique : « Je reconnais que dans mon travail, il y a beaucoup de choses que je ne peux pas prédire. Les accidents sont formateurs et ils sont riches, ils font partie de l’évolution de mes œuvres. »

Laisser la part belle au hasard pour donner vie à une toile, une sculpture, un modelage authentique. Chaque abstraction est une partie de jeu pour Joël Chapeau, il s’amuse avec l’accumulation de matériaux, il se plait à trouver une harmonie au milieu de toutes ces textures capables de capter notre être sensoriel.

Accidents are trainers and they are rich, they are part of the evolution of my works. »
